GRASS Staking
Overview of Grass' staking mechanics
By staking your GRASS tokens, you contribute to securing the network and earn rewards in return.
How to Stake
You can stake by delegating your tokens to routers. There is no minimum staking period, and rewards are distributed every second. If you decide to unstake, there is a 7-day unstaking period during which your tokens remain locked before becoming available for withdrawal.

Delegating Stake
Stake delegation involves a shared-risk, shared-reward financial model that potentially yields returns for long-term token holders. This model aligns the financial interests of both token-holders (delegators) and routers.
Router Selection and Rewards
Post decentralization, the more stake delegated to a router, the more frequently they are awarded traffic on the network. This increased activity leads to higher rewards for both the router and their delegators.
Commission Fees
Routers bear costs for running and maintaining their infrastructure, which they offset by charging a commission on the rewards earned. As routers aim to attract more stake, they may compete by offering more reliable uptimes and lower commission rates.
Future Risks - Slashing
While not currently part of the Grass network, future updates may introduce a risk of losing tokens through slashing. Slashing involves destroying a portion of a router’s GRASS in response to malicious activities, such as reporting invalid web traffic or censoring participants.
Currently, there is no in-protocol implementation of slashing.
